Men’s 2’s report - Max Johnson

The men’s 2’s were in action at home to Bath Buccs F today and won convincingly 3-0. In what was a competitive and at times feisty game, we scored early on via Alex Carter with a poachers finish following a short corner. We continued to create chances missing some back post tap-ins (Nick Sherman needed) before scoring a second time before the interval via Jack Gompels. At the half time discussion Nick Gompels went through his usual routine ‘…we’re playing really nice hockey, but…’. In the second half we scored a third goal via Jack Gompels for his brace with a simple tap in to secure the victory. An honourable mention must go to Sam Gompels for smacking his head on a football goal, Ben Johnson aerialling it a full 1cm, before Nick Gompels showed how it was done with an aerial over the fence and onto the playing field next door (no doubt hoping the softer grass may help his Grandad knees). A great performance as a team and especially from Joe Edwards in goal and Ben Johnson on the pitch.
