Devizes Hockey Club Wadworth 6X sponsored Devizes A side played host to Swansea Bay who had beaten the Moonraker men on their first league outing of the season. With captain Powell urging that Devizes take control early and dominate the ten man Welsh side from the outset Devizes started with some quick flowing passing hockey resulting in two goals within the first five minutes, this domination culminated in a half time score of 7-0 with Jim Langan completing a first half hat trick, the best of which was a powerful flick from a narrow angle. The second half began more slowly with Devizes turning over the ball to the packed 10 man Swansea defence, eventually the pressure started to tell with both captain Powell and Grant Humphreys converting from penalty corners, Matt Parry getting his third of the game and Tom Alsop his second. Steve Wells in the Devizes goal touched the ball twice such was the domination of Devizes. Wadworth 6X man of the match Steve Weller said after the game - "we've just won 11-0 and people still don't look happy" showing that there can still be improvement in the way the team play.
