Churlie is Wiltshire born and bred, and proud of it. Indeed, such is Churlie’s ‘Wiltshire ness’ that in 1998 he entered a competition to see who had the strongest Wiltshire accent. Although there was over 20,000 entrants, Churlie had comfortably the largest ‘grr’ out of everyone - Churlie has described that occasion as one of his finest hours.

Churlie joined Devizes because it fitted in with his working hours, and for no other reason. That said, in his time with us Churlie has been a barrel of laughs and one of the most likeable players that you could hope to meet; apart from on the pitch when he is, without fail, a grumbling, whingeing @#?!.

A prolific centre forward, Churlie is fast approaching 50 goals for the club. When he bangs his 50th goal Churlie has vowed to smile; on the pitch.
