The League of Swings and Misses

Back

In the pursuit of perfection and friendly competition the DHC Sports Institute has established a new league of "Swings & Misses". Sam Gaiger, the current leading goal scorer, is delighted to already be stealing a march in this competition also. Samuel said ‘The season could not have started with a bigger bang for me. This is where hockey noses in front of cricket as my favourite sport. Cricket is unforgiving as I often find that after a swing and miss I’m back in the pavillion with my orange squash and Farley's rusks. Whereas on the hockey pitch I can swing and miss all day and it’s only my team mates that wish I was back in the club house.'

Coach Charlie Seccombe added ‘I’ve been trying to work with the forwards on being more efficient in the "D". Most are learning but Samuel though is convinced his haphazard swinging creates more space for him in the "D" for when he does finally connect. I suppose the tables don’t lie do they!’.

Club Chairman Toby Brown, recently returned from "Up North" where he has been auditioning for a bit part in Poldark on Mopeds, commented 'I used to be the biggest swinger in the club. So I am so pleased to see my boys following the club tradition and taking up the reigns so to speak. Its just a pity that "Big Ron" Edwards can't seem to oil his Zimmer and get swinging too. Now if don't mind any more comments will have to come through my agent. I'm a radio celebrity don't ya know?'
